Our History

Creating Landscapes for Families began in the fall of 2009, when local families became interested in extending the summer Creating Landscapes program into the school year. During the 2009-2010 school year, activities followed the format of the summer program, but this changed as the families began to take ownership of the organization.

In the summer of 2010, Creating Landscapes for Families started the Community Garden at Ackerman Farm under the leadership of families and community members.

In the fall of 2011, the program moved to the Unitarian Universalist Church in Meadville and expanded its afterschool activities while designing a YEAR-ROUND program (summer in the Community Garden, School Year in the Community at the UU church).

As Creating Landscapes for Families moves into the 2013-2014 school year, we look forward to continuing our growth by partnering with even more families—please join us! All are welcome!
